ZSORT sorts files on the PC. ZSORT can handle text files or fixed record files like on the mainframe. You may sort ascending or descending on multiple sort fields. You may include records which meet criteria you specify. For example, you may include only those employees which make over $200,000.00 a year. You may include records which have a particular value in a given field. You may add and subtract fields together and include records which lie in a given range.
ZSORT runs under the DOS or OS/2 operating systems. The same version of ZSORT will also run under Windows.
ZSORT can handle large files. DOS V3.3 and under limits files to 32 megabytes. Higher versions of DOS handle larger files. ZSORT can sort files up to 4,294,967,295 bytes.
ZSORT can sort files with records up to, but not including 32 kilobytes. The maximum record size ZSORT V1.02 can handle is 32,767 bytes.
ZSORT allows you to sort on up to 20 sort fields. A sort field may be as long as the record. You may mix ascending and descending fields in the same sort.
ZSORT is written in 100% assembly language so it is very fast. It has been tested by automatic testing programs on over a half million test cases sorting over a half billion records.
